ACTIVITIES
Soak in one or island-hop all 88
From laid-back relaxation to heart-thumping adventure, trekking our most verdant forests to diving our bluest ocean, sun, sand and sea also set the perfect scene for romance and beach lounging. Beaches are free of jellyfish, sandflies and sting rays, with water levels a mere child-friendly, 50cm during low tide.
BIJAGOS LIVING
Live the Bijagos Life
Visit a Bijagos village. Experience what life is like in our matriarchal society where the Bijagos matriarchs have been credited practices from abolishing slavery, extending women’s rights to uniting the Orango Grande islands. The Queen is the most powerful person and is highly revered, as are the religious leaders who are women. And whilst you are visiting, engage with our eager-minded children. Share with them stories of where you come from. It takes a village.
